Since 2002, Alertus Technologies has specialized in implementing facility alerting systems for campuses, military bases, government facilities, and other large facilities. Our entire company is devoted to the mission of helping large institutions be prepared to notify personnel and their community, and Alertus has become renown for unparalleled reliability, affordability, and interoperability.
Alertus' chief product is the Alert Beacon, a wall-mounted device with sounder and strobes to capture the attention of building occupants from a distance, coupled with an integrated LCD displaying the nature of the emergency and appropriate response. Alert Beacons and the other Alertus products listed below are interoperable with most major personal messaging and wide area alert systems.
Alertus was founded out of the University of Maryland after a tornado ripped through the campus in 2001 killing two students without warning. The company’s initial development activities and operations were financed by the State of Maryland. Since then, thousands of Alert Beacons have been deployed at universities, military bases, government facilities, school districts, boarding schools, and medical centers, and other large area high occupancy facilities. The Alertus system has been field-proven at numerous campuses for true emergencies ranging from threats of violence to hazardous materials incidents.
