Alert Beacon Estimator

The objective of implementing Alert Beacons is to cover the footprint of your campus buildings to ensure "tier 1" reliable localized alerting capabilities when routine "tier 2" communication systems such as email are too slow and unreliable.  At a minimum, Alert Beacons should be placed at all facilities in the lobby or main area of each building.

Comprehensive coverage, which is the most common deployment level, entails placing Alert Beacons on every floor, at every entrance and point of egress, and in high visibility building cooridors.  Finally, an optimal long-term deployment may include classrooms, main offices, and lesser traffic areas to fully blanket the campus.

From a budgetary perspective, many campuses phase-in Alert Beacons over a multi-year period to reach a deployment level consistent with the organization's risk profile.  Keep in mind that the greatest incremental benefits are from a basic deployment of even a small number of Alert Beacons.
