After an alert is inputted into the activation software, how is the data relayed to the Alert Beacons?
There are four methods of communication:
- Wired Ethernet with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)
- Wireless WiFi/802.11
- Wireless FM Radio Broadcast Data Subcarrier (RBDS)
- Wireless Paging Carrier
Ethernet with PoE is most common, and hence the standard model Alert Beacon. Customers appreciate the two-way connectivity which offers extensive system monitoring capabilities. Also, it is the least complex and quickest to deploy.
Customers may select a hybrid system utilizing multiple communication methods for various Alert Beacons across their facilities. Alternatively, individual Alert Beacons may be ordered with a hybrid configuration for redundancy.
