Frequently Asked Questions > Alertus Desktop > Does the Alertus Desktop client send information to Alertus in any way?
The Alertus Desktop client does not send any information, identifiable or otherwise, to Alertus. All alert and status information is communicated directly between the client software and the Alertus server hosted by your organization. Periodically, the client software will attempt to obtain updated Certificate Revocation Listings (CRLs) from a server hosted by Alertus. These are related to the certificate information stored in a web browser, and are used as a further safeguard to ensure that the client computer will not accept alerts from potentially untrustworthy servers. No identifiable information is transmitted to the hosted server during these transactions, and Alertus does not collect or store access information, except for that required for security auditing purposes. If network access for the purpose of these updates is not available or desirable, appropriate network access control methods can be implemented, as appropriate.
