Disaster 2.0 - The rise of social media and emerging technologies in disaster management.
Adam Crowe, Emergency Manager, Virginia Commonwealth University
Adam Crowe is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and Master Exercise Practitioner who currently serves as the Director of Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Communications & Security at Virginia Commonwealth University. He joined VCU in 2012 and later the VCU Police Department in 2013. He directly or indirectly oversees more than 150 employees in emergency management, emergency communication, and residential and academic security at VCU.
He has written three books – “Disasters 2.0”, “Leadership in the Open” and “A Futurist Guide to Emergency Management”. He lives with his wife and kids in Richmond, VA. He is a national leader in social media and emergency management and routinely engages in cutting-edge planning, training, and exercise opportunities that improve the readiness of communities, organizations, and businesses to respond and recover from emergencies and disasters.
Patrick Dennin, Regional Account Manager, Alertus Technologies
Patrick Dennin is a Regional Account Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Higher Education territory for Alertus Technologies. In this role, he oversees sales for all Higher Education institutions and Boarding Schools in PA, MD, Washington, D.C., VA, DE, SC, and NC.
Patrick is an Alumnus of the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a tenured salesman with an aptitude for working through specific use cases with his clients. Patrick lives in Silver Spring with his wife, Sydney, where they are active members of the community. He serves as a board member of the Fight4Diabetes Cure organization, is an avid Washington Wizards fan, and enjoys sports, hiking, camping, and history.
