Alertus Emergency Preparedness Seminar Series Kicks Off at the University of Saskatchewan

The 2017 Alertus Emergency Preparedness Seminar Series is underway as more than 40 protective service professionals gathered at the University of Saskatchewan for a day of learning and sharing best practices for preparing for and managing emergency situations.

Engagement was high all day as presentations and a panel discussion sparked continual dialogue between attendees.

The first part of the day included a keynote presentation from crisis management expert, Suzanne Bernier who shared her findings, lessons learned, and recommendations from her work with the 2015 San Bernadino shooting survivors and victims' family members.

Additionally, Suzanne presented Gerald Roy of La Loche, Saskatchewan – sight of a mass shooting in January 2016 - with a Star of Hope from a young New Yorker with a message that reads ”This star of hope was made to let you know us New Yorkers are thinking of you. Stay strong and know you are not alone.”
