Orizon Aerostructures is a manufacturing and technology company specializing in aerospace manufacturing and complex subassemblies. They have five facilities spread out between Kansas and Oklahoma.

Challenge

Two critical, but separate, incidents exposed gaps in Orizon's internal communication: an unknown individual at the front desk of one facility and a severe storm that caused a power outage at another. As a result, corporate leadership and executives initiated a review of their emergency preparedness plan, seeking ways to enhance mass notification capabilities, better protect staff in vulnerable areas, and ensure swift and effective communication.

Solution

Scalability

Orizon made the switch from another mass notification system to the Alertus System after discovering its scalability. This allowed Orizon to implement solutions such as digital signage and Alertus Desktop™ Notification, with the flexibility to easily expand their system with additional devices as needed.

Alertus has been deployed at two of Orizon's Midwestern sites, one in Kansas and one in Oklahoma. Given their location, they face severe weather threats, including tornadoes, damaging winds, flash flooding, and winter ice storms. With over 500 employees at a single location, dependable communication during any emergency is critical.

The Alertus Console (left) simplifies, automates, and monitors emergency response. Alertus Desktop™ Notification and digital signage (right) deliver attention-grabbing, full-screen, facility-wide emergency notifications. Orizon uses color-coded and inversed alerts (for critical emergencies) for easy identification and maximum attention.

Customization

The safety team at Orizon loves the Alertus Console and have customized their desktop notifications to be sharp, eye-catching, and on-brand with their organization. They have configured various pre-set alerts so when an emergency strikes, they are ready.

“The customization we can do with the Alertus System is amazing,” said Joel Samuels, EHS and Technical Trainer at Orizon. “The fact that we can brand alerts to make them appear as if they are being sent directly from Orizon is awesome, because things look and feel the same regardless of where the alerts are sent from.”

Alertus Support

“Alertus support has been fantastic,” said Samuels. “We are getting into our first training since implementation, and the Alertus team has been great and supportive every step of the way.” Before getting on board with Alertus, Samuels and his team connected with current Alertus customers to obtain feedback, and what he heard the most was that Alertus customer support is always available.

Peace of Mind

Even in the early stages of implementation, the system has shown its value. During a tornado watch, just having the ability to immediately notify and communicate with everyone provides peace of mind. Since rolling out the desktop notification and implementing the Alert Beacon® at both of their sites, communication has significantly improved. They are thrilled with Alertus and are impressed by the system's features and functions.

The Alertus Alert Beacon® sounds, flashes, and displays an alert message in the event of an emergency.

Outcome & Future Plans

Orizon is blown away by the capabilities and is ecstatic about the system. It's been everything they wanted and more. Although they are still on a roll-out period, they are looking to expand to their other locations later this year and integrate mass notification with their door lock control system in the future.

Samuels expressed that he is happy to serve as a reference for any potential customers and highly recommends Alertus.
